Quick overview of the role
The Operator/Storeperson supports both operational and warehouse functions to ensure efficient production, safe material handling, and effective inventory management. The ideal candidate will bring a strong safety mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
What will you be doing?
- Conducting pre-start checks on plant, machinery, and equipment prior to use.
- Operating machinery, plant, and equipment safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Producing manufactured goods in line with required specifications.
- Picking and packing sales orders and internal stock transfer requests.
- Safely loading and unloading vehicles in accordance with Safe Loading Guidelines and Chain of Responsibility legislation.
- Checking and receipting incoming goods in an accurate and timely manner.
- Processing stock returns and completing required documentation.
- Undertaking regular stock takes and maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across operational and warehouse areas.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues to support a safe, productive, and efficient worksite.
Skills And Experiences
What are we looking for in the successful candidate?
- Current High Risk Work Licence – Forklift.
- Current Driver’s Licence.
- High Risk Work Licence – Dogman (highly regarded).
- Experience operating overhead gantry cranes (advantageous).
- Physically fit with the ability to safely lift and handle materials.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and follow procedures.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Previous experience in the steel industry (advantageous).
- Previous warehousing or distribution experience (advantageous).
