AOD Case Worker

Location: Fairhaven, Eagle Heights

Classification: SCHADS Level 4

Status: Full Time

About the Role

If you’re someone who believes deeply in people’s capacity to change, this role will feel like meaningful work—not just a job.

As an AOD Case Worker, you’ll be a steady, compassionate presence for people navigating the challenges of alcohol and other drug use. You’ll walk alongside participants with dignity and respect, offering evidence‑based support grounded in The Salvation Army’s National AOD Model of Care.

Your impact will be felt every day—whether you’re sitting with someone one‑on‑one as they take their first courageous steps toward change, or guiding a group through moments of insight, connection and hope. You’ll help people reduce harm, rebuild confidence, strengthen independence and make choices that support long‑term recovery.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Build strong, trusting relationships that empower participants to grow, make informed decisions and move toward independence.
  • Complete holistic, person‑centred assessments that explore AOD needs, co‑occurring conditions and overall wellbeing.
  • Facilitate referrals to specialist supports such as psychologists, mental health practitioners and other community services.
  • Consider and support participants’ spiritual wellbeing in line with the AOD Spirituality Framework.
  • Develop tailored treatment plans aligned with the National AOD Model of Care.
  • Work with participants to set meaningful goals, track progress and celebrate achievements to maintain motivation.
  • Provide coordinated, wrap‑around support through advocacy, collaboration and strong partnerships with external providers.

What You Will Bring

  • A relevant degree‑level qualification (preferred) or a diploma with strong sector experience.
  • Experience working in an AOD residential recovery environment.
  • A current Driver’s Licence (if required for vehicle access).
